WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU SAT DOWN IN ONE ROOM WITH YOUR TAX PROFESSIONAL, YOUR STOCK BROKER/INVESTMENT ADVISOR, AND YOUR INSURANCE PROFESSIONAL TO DISCUSS YOU, YOUR GOALS, AND YOUR MONEY… A FINANCIAL BOARD MEETING, IF YOU WILL?
All too often, that answer is never to the question above. If none of those professionals are coordinating on your behalf, you can end up with one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas in your financial life. Sure, you can still make a lot of money, but keeping a lot of money is another challenge. Here at East Coast Tax and Financial Planning, every time you meet with us, all those aspects are covered.
East Coast Tax and Financial is a team of highly skilled professionals that work for YOU! The team includes Financial Advisors, Retirement Planners, and Insurance and Tax professionals. Our team works as one to cover all aspects of your financial portfolio, tax structure, and insurance to maximize profitability and minimize tax consequences. East Coast Tax and Financial Planning has a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of its clients when providing investment advice.
“When we make great investment decisions that result in higher than necessary taxation, unfortunately, it results in having one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. While the investment may pay off, poor tax planning just allows the IRS to rob you of some of those precious gains. On the flip side of the coin, we all too often see people make grave investment mistakes by only looking at the tax benefits of an investment. This can help in saving in taxes; however, sometimes investors find themselves in a situation where they have very little to no access to their principal investment or, even worse, lose it completely. If you read the fine print of many investments, they will advise you to be sure to seek advice from a tax professional. This is a disclaimer to help the investment and/or insurance company avoid any pitfalls you may experience as a result of making investment decisions solely on the tax savings merit. This is yet another reason to consider East Coast Tax and Financial Planning. You’ll get a tax, investment, and insurance professional all in one room, discussing your money, future, and your goals. This allows you to make informed decisions that take these very different but intertwined aspects to financial planning into consideration.”

CEO, East Coast Tax and Financial Planning
At East Coast, we always start with a PLAN. The old adage “failing to plan is a plan to fail” rings true. Many brokers and agents walk around with a solution looking for a problem. In many cases, this leads to investors making uninformed decisions and buying investments and products based on biased recommendations. This is why the East Coast team takes the time to develop a plan for each and every one of our new and existing clients. Rather than get the cart before the horse and start buying “stuff”, we design a financial plan that brings direction and clarity to the investments and products we choose. This avoids the infamous “financial junk drawer.” The financial junk drawer is chock full of life insurance policies, annuities, IRA and Roth IRA accounts, college education investments, REITS, and so on. These are all investments you’ve accumulated along the way because you wanted to be a good steward with your money and protect your loved ones. Now that you have all this “stuff”, how do you coordinate it and make sure it’s working together to bring you to success? That is why a financial plan is so vital. Discovering what exactly it is that you have, how it works, and how it affects you is where we start. Before you make a change to something, you first need to be confident you know what it is that you’re changing. Many times things don’t need to be completely changed. It becomes more about how we can get the tools you’ve already accumulated to work together to fulfill your dreams. If a tool doesn’t quite fit or is detrimental to the plan, we consider replacing it. So let’s explore what an actual financial plan is and how it plays a key role and assists you in being successful.
